Was there anything as brutal or rapacious as European colonization?

colonization of the european continent by the germanic tribes--some of the most brutal warriors of all time, colonization of europe by the romans--second most brutal. American colonization was very interetsing--this is one of the few places in the world where the native inhabitants were not slaughtered completely--civilized behavior took a few steps forward (and back as well) and many of the native tribes to north america retain their tribal identity and have their own nation. So no, i'd say colonization of europe proper 4000 years ago or so was by far the most brutal.
