How to fire my lawyer without him charging me?

I have hired a lawyer because I was injured in the job and the company refused to pay my medical bill. At first, the lawyer was very helpful and he did a lot of things that made the company rethink their situation. a few days ago he started to tell me that he does not think that the case is solid enough and he did not come to court one time and every time I call him he does not answer. I think that the company have bribed him, can someone tell me if there is a way to fire him without him charging me a loud of money b/c he been with me for a long time and he stated that in case i hired another attorney I will have to pay him for everything?
