Why does the nights sky look clearer or even crisper?

It July 10, 2011 I live in Arlington, TX and the last couple of nights the sky has in some way looked clearer or maybe even crisper, not just to me but, my son and girlfriend also seem to think so. Has anyone else seen this and thought so too orwould anyone have an explanation for why it might seem this way.
