Which name do you prefer: Gerald or Lionel?

If I had a gun pointed at me and I had to choose between these I would go with Gerals just because I would use the nick name Gerry. Both names are too old sounding and in my opinion Gerald and Lionel are playing shuffle board at the senior center and do not fit in a nursery with babies just born. Middle name okay especially if they are to honor someone. Never as a first name.
