Can i put my gophone sim card in a samsung captivate?

i recently was looking into getting a samsung captivate! i do not want a plan. i have the unlimited talk & text on the go phone rate plan currently. can i just slip my sim card in the captivate & it work? or is there something i have to do! please help...Thanks
